Effective Date: 2025-05-21

Last Updated:2025-05-21

Welcome to LegalQuery.in (hereinafter referred to as "we", "our", "us", or "the Platform"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you, the user (referred to as "you", "your", or "Client"), and LegalQuery.in. These Terms govern your access to, and use of, our digital services made available through our website, https://legalquery.in/ and our mobile application (collectively referred to as the "Platform").

By accessing, browsing, or using the Platform in any manner—including but not limited to visiting or navigating the website, registering for an account, or availing any of the services offered—you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. These Terms apply to all users of the Platform, including casual visitors, registered users, clients seeking legal services, and lawyers providing legal services through our Platform.

Please read these Terms carefully before proceeding. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform or any of the services provided herein. Continued use of the Platform will be deemed as acceptance of the Terms and any updates or modifications made from time to time. Your compliance with these Terms is necessary to ensure a transparent, secure, and trustworthy environment for all parties using LegalQuery.in.

1. Platform Overview

LegalQuery.in is a comprehensive, technology-driven legal service platform designed to simplify the process of finding and availing legal assistance across India. The Platform serves as a digital bridge connecting users (referred to as "you" or "Clients") with a wide network of experienced and verified legal professionals (referred to as "Lawyers") who specialise in various areas of law. Through our website and mobile application, users can access a broad range of legal services in a streamlined and accessible manner. These services include, but are not limited to, online and in-person legal consultations, legal document drafting, property verification and legal due diligence, representation in courts and tribunals, and personalised legal assistance in multiple regional languages.

The core objective of LegalQuery.in is to make legal services more approachable, transparent, and convenient for individuals, businesses, and non-resident Indians (NRIs) alike. The Platform leverages modern technology to allow users to schedule consultations, interact with lawyers, upload documents, track case progress, and manage legal needs—all from the comfort of their device.

It is important to note that LegalQuery.in is not a law firm, nor does it engage in the practice of law or provide legal advice directly to clients. The Platform does not assume any responsibility for legal advice or representation provided. All legal services offered through the Platform are rendered exclusively by independent legal practitioners, who are licensed professionals registered with appropriate regulatory bodies in India. LegalQuery.in merely acts as an intermediary to facilitate the interaction between Clients and Lawyers. Therefore, any lawyer-client relationship is established solely between you and the selected legal professional, and LegalQuery.in shall not be liable for any advice, representation, or outcome arising from such engagement.

2. Eligibility

In order to access and use the services offered by LegalQuery.in, you must meet certain eligibility criteria to ensure legal compliance and responsible usage of the Platform. First and foremost, you must be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration and use. This age requirement ensures that users are legally recognised as adults capable of making independent decisions and entering into contractual agreements under Indian law.

Additionally, you must be legally competent to enter into a binding contract in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. This means that you should not be disqualified by law from entering into such contracts due to reasons such as mental incapacity, insolvency, or any other legal restrictions. By registering on the Platform or using any of its services, you affirm that you possess the legal capacity to understand, agree to, and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Furthermore, you are required to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process or while using any part of the Platform. This includes, but is not limited to, your name, contact details, address, identification information (if required), and any legal documents necessary for availing specific services. Providing false, misleading, or incomplete information may lead to the suspension or termination of your access to the Platform, and could result in legal action if the information is used for fraudulent or unlawful purposes.

By continuing to use LegalQuery.in, you confirm that you meet all the above eligibility requirements and agree to maintain the accuracy and authenticity of your information at all times.

3. User Responsibilities

By accessing and using the services provided by LegalQuery.in, you agree to uphold a set of responsibilities that are essential for maintaining the integrity, security, and lawful use of the Platform. As a user, you are required to use the Platform strictly for lawful and legitimate purposes only. This means that you must not engage in any activity through the Platform that is illegal, unethical, or prohibited under applicable laws in India or in the jurisdiction from which you are accessing the Platform.

You also agree not to misrepresent your identity, impersonate any other individual or entity, or provide any false, inaccurate, or misleading information at any point—whether during registration, communication with lawyers, or while using any of the Platform's services. Misrepresentation not only violates these Terms but may also result in legal consequences, including termination of your account and, if necessary, reporting to relevant legal authorities.

As a responsible user, you are expected to comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations that govern your use of the Platform and any interactions or transactions that arise from it. This includes laws related to data protection, intellectual property, consumer protection, online behaviour, and any specific regulations applicable to your legal matter or jurisdiction.

Furthermore, you must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, distribute, or exploit any part of the Platform, including its features, content, user interfaces, or service offerings, for any commercial purposes without obtaining prior written consent from LegalQuery.in. Unauthorised use or duplication of Platform materials may infringe upon intellectual property rights and lead to civil or criminal liability.

By using the Platform, you agree to act in good faith, maintain respectful communication with legal professionals and support staff, and refrain from using the Platform for spamming, harassment, or any kind of malicious or disruptive behaviour. Failure to comply with these responsibilities may result in suspension, restriction, or permanent termination of your access to LegalQuery.in, along with any necessary legal recourse to protect the interests of the Platform and its users.

4. Lawyer-Client Relationship

By using LegalQuery.in to connect with a legal professional, you acknowledge and agree that any professional relationship that may arise is strictly and exclusively between you ("the Client") and the individual legal practitioner ("the Lawyer"). LegalQuery.in operates solely as a technology platform facilitating discovery, communication, scheduling, and payments between Clients and independent legal professionals. We are not a law firm, nor do we offer legal representation, advice, or opinion in any capacity.

The selection of a Lawyer from the list of available professionals is made solely at the discretion of the Client. Any advice, consultation, documentation, or representation you receive is provided independently by the Lawyer and not by LegalQuery.in. The Platform does not supervise, direct, or control any Lawyer's legal advice, judgement, strategy, conduct, or performance of services. As such, the Platform shall not be held liable or accountable for the content, quality, legality, accuracy, or effectiveness of the services rendered by any Lawyer.

The Lawyers listed on LegalQuery.in are not employees, partners, associates, or agents of LegalQuery.in. They act as independent professionals offering their services through the Platform. LegalQuery.in does not share in the professional fees earned by Lawyers, nor does it receive any commission based on the outcome of any legal matter. We do not endorse, guarantee, or warrant the qualifications, ability, or competence of any listed Lawyer beyond preliminary verification.

A Lawyer-Client relationship is formed only when:

  • The Client directly engages a Lawyer through the Platform, and
  • The Lawyer expressly agrees to provide legal services to the Client.

LegalQuery.in merely facilitates the initial connection and communications and does not create or imply a fiduciary relationship. Any confidential or privileged information shared during consultations remains between the Lawyer and the Client, and LegalQuery.in is not a party to such communications. While we may store certain user communications for technical or quality purposes in line with our Privacy Policy, we do not access or use confidential information for any commercial or legal purposes.

Clients are advised to conduct their own due diligence before relying on legal advice received through the Platform. Any disputes or claims arising from legal services must be resolved directly between the Client and the Lawyer. LegalQuery.in disclaims all liability arising from negligence, malpractice, delay, misrepresentation, or any other act or omission on the part of the Lawyer.

5. Verification of Lawyers

LegalQuery.in is committed to maintaining a reliable and trustworthy platform by listing only those legal professionals who have undergone a verification process to the extent reasonably possible. As part of this process, we make diligent efforts to verify the credentials of Lawyers through various means, including but not limited to reviewing their Bar Council registration numbers, checking publicly available legal directories, and examining relevant professional documentation and certifications. This verification is intended to ensure that the Lawyers listed on the Platform are duly qualified and authorised to practice law in India. However, despite our best efforts, LegalQuery.in does not and cannot guarantee the absolute accuracy, completeness, legitimacy, or ongoing validity of the credentials, professional standing, or licensing status of any Lawyer listed on the Platform. Factors such as changes in licensing status, disciplinary actions, or updates to a Lawyer's credentials may not always be immediately available or verifiable.

Therefore, Clients are strongly encouraged to exercise independent judgement and, where necessary, conduct their own due diligence before engaging any legal professional through the Platform. LegalQuery.in shall not be held liable for any inaccuracies or omissions in the verification process or for any consequences arising from reliance on such information.

6. Consultations and Services

LegalQuery.in offers a wide range of technology-enabled legal services that aim to simplify access to verified legal professionals across India. The Platform is designed to cater to individuals, startups, and businesses by providing convenient, transparent, and accessible legal support. The services made available through LegalQuery.in are delivered solely by independent Lawyers listed on the Platform, and are subject to the terms outlined herein.

Types of Services Offered

  • Legal Consultations: Clients can connect with Lawyers for personalised legal consultations through multiple modes, including video conferencing, telephone calls, or in-person meetings (where feasible). These consultations are intended to address general or specific legal queries, offer strategic advice, or guide Clients on the appropriate course of legal action.
  • Legal Document Drafting: The Platform enables Clients to request the drafting of standard or customised legal documents such as agreements, contracts, wills, affidavits, NDAs, sale deeds, partnership deeds, employment contracts, and more. Drafts are prepared by Lawyers in consultation with Clients based on the facts and requirements shared during the interaction.
  • Property Verification and Legal Due Diligence: Lawyers may be engaged through the Platform to conduct legal verification of property documents, title due diligence, encumbrance checks, and compliance assessments. This is particularly useful for Clients involved in property transactions, leasing, or real estate development.
  • Court Representation and Litigation Support: Clients requiring representation in courts or tribunals can connect with Lawyers who practice before relevant forums across jurisdictions. Services may include drafting and filing of pleadings, appearances in court, and legal strategy for civil, criminal, corporate, family, consumer, or tax-related matters.
  • Legal Assistance in Regional Languages: In keeping with India's linguistic diversity, LegalQuery.in strives to make legal help accessible in multiple regional languages. Clients may choose to receive consultation and documentation in their preferred language, subject to the availability of suitable Lawyers.
  • Real-Time Query Resolution via Chat: The Platform also provides an interactive chat feature for resolving simple legal questions or preliminary guidance in real-time. This service is intended for quick queries and does not substitute detailed legal advice or document-based consultations.

Scheduling, Availability, and Engagement Terms

  • Successful Payment: Clients must complete full payment for the desired service through the Platform's secure payment gateway prior to scheduling or initiating any consultation or service. Fees for each type of service are transparently displayed and may vary based on complexity, urgency, or lawyer experience.
  • Confirmed Scheduling: Upon successful payment, Clients may choose from available time slots based on the selected Lawyer's calendar. The Platform facilitates the scheduling and may send reminders or confirmations via email or SMS.
  • Lawyer Availability: The availability of specific services is contingent on the Lawyers' schedules, workload, area of practice, and geographic location. LegalQuery.in does not guarantee availability at all times or in all locations, though it endeavours to match Clients with appropriate professionals based on their needs.

LegalQuery.in does not itself render legal services, and the role of the Platform is strictly limited to connecting Clients with independent legal professionals. While we may provide recommendations based on user preferences, final responsibility for selecting and engaging a Lawyer rests solely with the Client.

Clients are advised to provide accurate and complete information regarding their legal issue to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of the service provided. Misrepresentation or withholding of information may adversely affect the quality of the legal advice or services received.

7. Payments and Refunds

LegalQuery.in is committed to offering a seamless, secure, and transparent payment experience for all Clients engaging with legal services through the Platform. By using LegalQuery.in, you agree to the following terms regarding payments and refunds:

Payment Methods and Process

  • Accepted Payment Methods: All payments must be made through LegalQuery.in using approved methods, including credit/debit cards, net banking, UPI, digital wallets, or other secure payment gateways integrated into the Platform. Payments processed through third-party gateways are additionally governed by their respective terms and policies.
  • Full Payment Requirement: Services such as consultations, document drafting, property verification, or litigation support require full payment in advance. Upon successful payment, Clients will receive confirmation, and the service will be scheduled based on the selected Lawyer's availability.

Transparent Service Fees

  • Fee Transparency: All service fees will be clearly displayed on the Platform prior to confirmation. Fees may vary based on the service complexity, consultation duration, Lawyer expertise, or urgency.
  • Additional Charges: Some services may incur additional fees for urgent requests, expedited processing, or travel for in-person meetings. Such charges will be disclosed in advance.

Refund Policy

  • No Refunds for Completed Services: Once a service is completed—whether consultation, document drafting, or legal representation—no refunds shall be issued. By proceeding, you agree to pay in full regardless of service outcome or satisfaction.
  • Refunds for Non-Rendered Services: Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis if a service is not delivered due to Platform error or Lawyer cancellation. If eligible, refunds will be processed within a reasonable time (up to 15 business days).
  • Non-Refundable Services: Services that have already begun or are completed will not qualify for a refund unless there was a technical issue or fault from the Platform's end.

Clients are encouraged to contact LegalQuery.in's support team for payment or refund-related queries. Refunds, when applicable, will be processed in the original payment mode following internal review.

8. Content and Intellectual Property

All content available on the LegalQuery.in Platform—including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, software, legal templates, and multimedia elements ("Platform Content")—is the property of LegalQuery.in or its licensors and is protected under applicable intellectual property laws in India and internationally.

  • Usage License: Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to access and use the Platform solely for personal or business purposes related to legal services. Unauthorized copying, reproduction, modification, distribution, or commercial exploitation of Platform Content is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from LegalQuery.in.
  • Trademarks: All trademarks, service marks, logos, and branding elements displayed on the Platform are the exclusive property of LegalQuery.in and may not be used without express permission.
  • User Content: Users retain ownership of any personal documents or data uploaded to the Platform. By submitting content, you grant LegalQuery.in a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use and host the content solely for service facilitation. Your information will not be used for unrelated commercial purposes.
  • Compliance Responsibility: Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any content they upload does not violate laws or infringe on third-party rights.

9. Ratings and Reviews

After a legal service is completed, Clients may rate and review the Lawyer they engaged through the Platform. These reviews help maintain transparency and assist other users in selecting suitable legal professionals.

Lawyer visibility on the Platform may be influenced by overall ratings, responsiveness, user engagement, and revenue contribution. LegalQuery.in uses these factors to highlight active and well-performing Lawyers but does not guarantee rankings or outcomes.

All reviews must be based on genuine experiences and written respectfully. LegalQuery.in reserves the right to moderate, edit, or remove any review that is defamatory, abusive, misleading, irrelevant, or violates privacy or our Terms of Use.

User reviews reflect individual opinions and not the views of LegalQuery.in. We do not take responsibility for the accuracy or content of any review posted by users.

10. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy and the security of your personal information are important to us. LegalQuery.in is committed to protecting your data in accordance with applicable laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and relevant data protection rules in India.

When you use the Platform, we may collect personal and sensitive information such as your name, contact details, legal documents, and consultation history. This data is collected solely for the purpose of providing legal services, improving user experience, and ensuring secure and effective operation of the Platform.

Our Privacy Policy provides detailed information about:

  • What data we collect and why,
  • How we store and protect your information,
  • With whom we may share it (e.g., Lawyers involved in your matter),
  • Your rights regarding your personal data.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data against unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse. Access to your information is limited to authorised personnel and the Lawyer(s) handling your case.

By using the Platform, you consent to the collection, use, and processing of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our privacy practices, please refrain from using the Platform.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, LegalQuery.in, its affiliates, directors, employees, agents, and service providers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business opportunities, legal expenses, or reputational harm arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of the Platform.

LegalQuery.in serves solely as a technology intermediary facilitating connections between Clients and independent legal professionals. We do not provide legal advice, nor do we control, supervise, or influence the advice or representation offered by Lawyers listed on the Platform. As such, we are not responsible for the quality, accuracy, reliability, legality, or outcome of any legal service or consultation provided by a Lawyer.

All legal services are rendered solely at the discretion of and under the responsibility of the selected Lawyer. Any engagement, decision, or reliance on legal advice is done at your own sole risk.

Additionally, LegalQuery.in is not liable for any interruptions, errors, technical issues, delays, or losses resulting from the use of the Platform, including those caused by third-party systems, internet service disruptions, or payment gateway failures.

By using the Platform, you acknowledge and agree that LegalQuery.in's total liability, if any, shall be strictly limited to the amount paid by you for the specific service in question and only where such liability is proven to result directly from a breach or gross negligence on the part of the Platform.

12. Termination

LegalQuery.in reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your access to the Platform, without prior notice or liability, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, applicable laws, or engaged in conduct that is harmful, unlawful, or abusive in nature.

Grounds for termination may include, but are not limited to:

  • Misuse of the Platform or its services;

  • Harassing or abusing Lawyers, support staff, or other users;
  • Violating the intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
  • Engaging in any behaviour that damages the reputation or operations of LegalQuery.in.

In such cases, we may also withhold access to any pending services, remove your content, and take legal or technical steps to prevent future use of the Platform.

You may also choose to discontinue use of the Platform at any time. However, termination does not relieve you of any obligations accrued prior to the date of termination, including payments due or legal responsibilities arising from past engagements.

We reserve the right to preserve data, account activity, and communications for compliance, legal, or record-keeping purposes even after termination, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

13. Dispute Resolution

In the event of any dispute, disagreement, or grievance arising out of your use of the Platform or interaction with a Lawyer, users are encouraged to first attempt an amicable resolution directly with the concerned party. LegalQuery.in functions solely as an intermediary platform and does not assume responsibility for resolving disputes related to the quality, content, or outcome of legal services rendered by Lawyers.

While LegalQuery.in is not obligated to intervene in individual legal disagreements, we may, at our sole discretion, offer limited assistance in mediating minor grievances, such as appointment rescheduling issues, payment clarification, or service delays, provided they fall within our scope of platform operations. However, we do not offer arbitration, legal judgement, or dispute adjudication.

All disputes, claims, or controversies related to Platform access, use, or these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of India. You expressly consent to the jurisdiction and venue of these courts and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum.

14. Amendments

LegalQuery.in reserves the right to update, modify, or revise these Terms and Conditions at any time, at its sole discretion. Such changes may be made to reflect legal or regulatory updates, introduce new features, improve user experience, or address operational needs of the Platform.

Whenever material changes are made, the updated Terms will be published on the Platform along with a revised "Effective Date" at the top of the document. Users are encouraged to review the Terms periodically to stay informed of their rights and obligations.

Your continued use of the Platform after any changes to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of those modifications. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you should discontinue use of the Platform and any services offered through it.

LegalQuery.in is not obligated to provide individual notice of updates unless required by law. It is your responsibility to regularly check the Terms to remain compliant with the most current version.
